Canossian Sons of Charity in Kenya

Mercoledì 30 giugno. Inaugurazione della Saint Joseph Formation House (nuova casa di formazione dedicata a San Giuseppe) in Ongata Rongai, con la benedizione del Vescovo di Ngong, S.E. Mons. John Oballa Owa e con la presenza di Padre Carlo Bittante, Superiore Generale dei Padri Canossiani. Wednesday, June 30. John Oballa Owa and with the presence of Father Carlo Bittante, Superior General of the Canossian Fathers.  

 Domenica 27 giugno, fratel João Victor ha emesso la sua Prima Professione tra i Figli della Carità Canossiani, nella Chiesa di St. Monica in Ongata Rongai. On the Sunday, June 27, bro João Victor made his First Profession among the Canossian Sons of Charity, in the Church of St. Monica in Ongata Rongai.

Oggi Jacob e Filomeno hanno ufficialmente iniziato il loro anno di noviziato a Nairobi. Ambedue provengono da Timor Leste. Today Jacob and Filomeno have officially started their novitiate year in Nairobi. Both come from Timor Leste.  

Il disegno qui sopra vuole raffigura com'era la zona di Santa Lucia in Venezia quando nel 1831 l'Istituto dei Canossiani ha avuto inizio. The drawing above depicts what the Santa Lucia area in Venice was like when the Institute of Canossian Sons of Charity began in 1831. Ora nella stessa zona sorge la centralissima stazione ferroviaria di Venezia – Santa Lucia. Now in the same area stands the central railway station of Venice - Santa Lucia. Sul piazzale della stazione è posta una targa che ricorda i nostri inizi. A plaque commemorating our beginnings is placed on the station square.   

 Abbiamo in progetto di costruire una scuola primaria vicino alla chiesa di Saint Monica. Essa servirà soprattutto le famiglie della nostra parrocchia che vivono nella baraccopoli di Kware. Stiamo già cercando il costruttore per l'opera. Ci vorrà del tempo per rendere la nuova scuola operativa, ma contiamo che il prossimo anno possiamo incominciare con una classe di studenti. We have planned to build a primary school in the compound of the Saint Monica church. It will especially serve the families of our parish who live in the Kware slum. We are already looking for the builder for the work. It will take some time to get the new school up and running, but we hope that next year we can start with a class of students.
